Interest in Micro Mealworms???

mmfrankford Aug 11, 2004 04:23 PM

Picked up the latest Reptiles magazine. Don't have it on hand, it's the issue with the desert iguana on the front. Anyway there is an ad for Micro Mealworms. They seem to be boasting that young animals raised on these grow faster than those that are not. Hmmm. They are supposed to be more lively than the larger species. Talking about that, they are a different species. A Confusion Beetle or something like that?
Anybody else seen these or tried them? I know I'll be having baby leos hatch out in September and maybe thought of trying them out.
The website is micromealworms.com

A Confused Flour Beetle??? I've never heard of feeding those to anything. Baby leo's can be raised exclusively on regular mealworms from their first meal...And mediums at that.. not even smalls...My hatchlings are taking large mealies before they're a month old. I'd say stick with the tried and true.. mealies.. crickets.. silkworms and butterworms

I used those with my leo and it is quite fat and large. I have a friend who used solely crickets and it is actually older than my leo by a couple years and mine is bigger at adult. It may be coincidence but my leopard gecko seems to have grown from eating them......never feed just on one thing switch foods around a lot.

Its perfectly OK for you to feed just one food item, most ONLY use mealworms, which i consider best, next to superworms

a varied diet its still good though, but when feeding soley crickets be ready for some vet visits

I feed my geckos mainly mealworms with occasional supers and grasshoppers/crickets caught from a pesticide free field.
I don't even mess with the store crickets. Pain in the butts to deal with.
I think I'll try small mealies and the micros for the hatchlings.
