dont qoute me on this but i think for a leo to be considered a carrottail the orange has to start at the base of the tail and there cant be any spots in it...but im not sure =/
I think it has to be at least 10% of the tail that is bright orange, but if your gecko is young it could possible get more colour as it grows (but maybe not enough to be a full carrot tail..) But either way it dose have some carrot tail genetics in it.

so many people thimnk just because their normal leos have specks of orange on their tails they have a carrot tail...::shakes head::
this is what a carrot tail looks like, at least 15% orange no black spots at the base
jeese... i didnt know for a fact if he was a carrot tail or not so i decided to ask.. dont need to chew me up about it.

My only leo is named Maverick. I got him from sombody who didnt want him... he has lost almost every single toe because they didn't take care of him.
chill he didn't chew you up. He posts a lot on gecko forums, its just after a while when people are selling their geckos they try to claim ANYTHING is some sort of special trait so they can justify raising the price of their geckos.
And it just so happens that Carrot tails are one of the most popular traits right now
here;s my male, he has orange on his tail but by no means is he a carrot tail
i have absolutly no intention of selling maverick, i have grown attached to him because i am currently helping him fight infections.

Nobodys chewing you up, it just ticks me off when people think they have a carrot tail just because their leo has a few specks of orange
Like snarks said, too many people sucker pthers into thinking theior normal leo that has 1-5 specles of arange on its tail is a carrot tail and try to sell it for outrageous prices, this mostly happens to newbies and youngsters
so dont take that post personally, now you know what a leo has to look like to be considered a carrot tail
Dan
Thnx everybody. I will never sell maverick and i was just a bit curious if he could be concidered that.

actually it was kind of rude to flip out at knink for asking. somebody told me on this list that mine is a carrottail when i was asking what morph he was. they told me he was a high yellow with a carrot tail. there are alot of people running around saying that people have carrot tails when in actuality they don't so there is no reason to get snoty about it. they were just curious as to what their leo was.
