Hurricane..boy am I depressed.... OT, sort of

CheriS Aug 11, 2004 06:50 PM

Daytona Expo is this weekend and it looks like we will be stuck here due to the hurricane in the tropics coming this way, projected landfall is between Tampa and Naples (I sit in the middle of that) Friday morning which is when we were leaving for Daytona. We have started preping, Axe is mowing and cleaning the yard right now and tying down everything.

Tomorrow I have to get three 5 foot iguana's insides and their outdoor cages secured...

Heading to the store to stock up on canned goods, ice and other things for emergency back up and greens for the lizards. Thanks heavens I already have a load of 40 hour heat packs!

Who will not be able to shower cause an iguana will be in each tub or shower!

there is always hope it will hold out a bit longer before making the turn east. Good luck and stay safe. remember, generally more injuries happen preparing for a storm than in the storm.

Hope you find a way to make it

Safety is of course the highest priority, but I can imagine what a bummer that would be if you miss the show.

I hope you can make it there somehow, but more importantly I wish you all and the critters a safe weekend sheltered from the storm.

A few years back we had a devastating ice storm in the KC area. Power was out for more than a week in places and houses and cars were covered with fallen branches. I was standing in line at Costco to buy a generator for my snake room (middle of winter)There was no power at the store but they opened just to sell generators. They called all credit cards in on cell phones. The odd thing was most of the people in line were buying generators for their animals rather than for themselves. I had about 40G worth of snakes while others bred birds and other animals. It just seemed funny most people were there trying to protect their animal investments.

LOL

Just put your safety first, its a shame about the show, but hey first priority is that dang storm or storms and keeping your family safe.

I'm further up the coast and we will get it next, or atleast alot of rains from it (New Jersy) we dont need anymore water as we have been dealing with Flooding everywhere in the past few weeks.

Hang in there, maybe it wont be too bad!

it gets to us!!!!! LoL.

I don't think I'm going to make it down to Daytona either. I am truly bummed! I only had a few supplies to get but I really wanted to get a red bobble head frog for my wife's new car. I got a gator one for my truck last year & my wife got a new (used) car & I just had my heart set on getting one for her. If you do make it down there could you PLEASE get one for me? I don't remember who had them but if you see them, please. I'll pay you back how ever you want (Cheri & Axe only) lol. I trust them enough to say that. lol
If not, I guess it will have to wait till next year, or if I happen to find them at a different show?

Good luck with the storm.
