yellow bellied slider hatchling needs help

radiofemme Aug 11, 2004 07:34 PM

someone help me! i have 3 healthy juvenile res and know all about turtles, but someone gave me a yellow belly hatchling with softshell and who knows what else. ive done the basics- given it a UV lamp which always stays on, cuttlebone and calcium, all sorts of food (although it doesnt want to eat) in hopes that it may live. i feel so sorry for the guy and almost feel like i should put it out of its misery as bad as it sounds, but ive heard that when it has softshell or metabolic bone disease at that young of an age there is very little hope of survival. anyone know anything or any suggestions?

First...I wouldn't leave the light on at all times as it's not condusive to a natural habitate with day and night.
Second...take your little guy to a vet
