Do beardies get jealous?

Jo_OscarsMom May 14, 2003 04:51 PM

Ever since I got my new baby beardie, Oscar seems to be sulking. If she sees me hold or pet him, she won't have anything to do with me for awhile. Is it my imagination or is she jealous?

Yes!

Not only about other dragons, but people also.

Out of several we have, two of the females have real jealousy issues. One sulks, turns her back if she see me with another dragon. She gets along with the others, as long as I am not holding her and the another one at the same time, she will try to nip them or nudge them off. Normally she is very clean but when real mad at me she will decorate the side of her enclosure with poo... over and over, stepping in her water bowl, then the poo then patting it on the sides of the glass til there are hundreds of prints and no poo left.... then sit with her back to me until I clean the tank and her.... getting the attention she thinks I deprived her of.... and she is very smug then!

Another female thinks Axe is her's and I am the other woman, she hates me!! She squints at me and draws back when I try to hold her and acts like I am an alien. I am the one that always has fed and cared for her, but her tank was near his computer(he's a web designer) for months and she felt he spent his days with her.. so when I came home from work and it was lights out... it was MY fault!!!!

She is a year old and we had to move her to another room... its better... but not much

Silly dragons
