A horrific turn of events on my loose Outer Banks King ! ...

Keith Hillson Jun 23, 2003 10:43 PM

Just kidding ! I found her 30 minutes ago !!! I came into my snake/computer room and saw my cat nosing around my bookcase. There is a slim space between the floor and the base of the bookshelf so I took a metal ruler that just slides under there and tried to pull it from one side to the other. It snagged on something and I left it there to see if it moved and sure as shi# it did. I then extracted a very dehydrated looking Outer Banks King. I believe she was under there the whole time as I had set water out for her in this very room every night. What she did was push the backing of the bookcase backwards and slide under the base. I never thought of that since the bookcase is almost flush to the ground but that's only the outer trim as there is a good 2" of from floor to shelf of snake hideout there. Anyway thanks for everyone's kind words of encouragement because I really felt she was long gone and probably would have been if not for my nosy cat

Keith

Congratulation on finding her! When I saw your original post I had a feeling you would come across her. Whenever I have an escaped snake my first thing I do is watch my wifes cats and they usually let me know where they are. I recently had my favorite eastern milk get free. After 2 month I figured she was gone for good. One night I go to check on my other eastern and isn't the missing one sitting right on top of her cage. I couldn't believe it! She was in perfect health and has been eating like a pig ever since. Take care, Scott.

Congrats! Cats are excellent for that. My cat always finds my lost animals for me.
