Unfortunately most of the common kings (L. getula) have been bred together. While it is not difficult, I personally think that it is a very bad idea. While you may honestly represent the offspring as hybrids or intergrades, others down the line may not. Both subspecies you mention are available, why not breed them to their own type instead of creating mutts. I have no ill will toward those who create hybrids and honestly represent them, I just don't understand the attraction.
