Please Help, Turtle tail looks really bad

SmokingJoe Aug 12, 2004 03:28 AM

My alligator snaper has some sort of tail rotten issue for about 2 weeks now, I have no idea what it was, but I am getting a pretty clear picture that something is seriously wrong with its tail now. What is going on and what should I do? Please help.

The very tip few segment has already "shrink and dried" to a point that it simply snapped off at one point. Now the rest of the tail is getting infected...

Picture attached.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that the outer skin seems to become dry and then cracked and peeled off.

I would keep the turtle dry for a few days. Clean the wound, patting it dry with a cotton ball, etc. then applying an antibacterial ointment.

The cause of this condition escapes me, see a vet.
