Peruvian Rainbow Boa

dleary May 14, 2003 04:52 PM

I'm expecting a 2 mo. old female Peruvian Rainbow Boa on Friday, and am very excited. I've got the warmer end of her terrarium at 88° F (31° C), and the cool end at 75° F (24° C). Her pool of water located on the cooler side, and the humidity is steady at 90%. I'm using green ESU Reptile Terrarium Carpet on the bottom, and her tank also contains two caves to hide in (one on each end of the temperature gradient) and a piece of gnarly driftwood mounted on slate to climb on.

Does this setup sound ok? Any hints, tips, and general observations from those who are keeping this species would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

David,
. I keep my Peruvian Rainbows under the exact same caging conditions as my Brazilian Rainbows. I think your cage sounds good except that I would go a little cooler than 88 on the hot end.

Thanks, Jeff. I'll adjust the thermostat down some. How does 85° F sound?

Also, I've read quite a few archived posts which say that many of what are sold as Peruvian Rainbow Boas are actually Brazilian Rainbow Boas. I bought mine from LLL Reptile, and they seem pretty reputable. I hope I'm actually getting a Peruvian R.B.

I've really enjoyed the many photos you've posted here. Thanks!

David
