Phantasticus Breeding Tips

little_dragon_00 Aug 12, 2004 11:28 AM

I have a 1.2 group of C.B satanics. They are in a 20 gallon with lots of ficus plants, pothos, and sticks to climb on. I'm trying to aquire the march 2004 issue of reptile magazine that has an article about breeding satanics. I was wondering if those who have successfully mated their phatasticus could give me some pointers and tips. One of my females has a little patch of abrasive skin on the back of her neck that's similar to a grasping mark from a male. I purchased her yesterday and placed her into the group last night. They were all doing the territorial tail waves but the male was the most frantic but I didn't catch them in the act. Any pointers would be a great help!

The best way to breed uroplatus is to try and mimic the seasons in Madagascar. To induce breeding you should have a cool dry period of several months followed by a warmer, wetter and more humid period. During this time you should begin heavily feeding your geckos. Also if you don't mind me asking where did you get the C.B phantasticus. You hardly ever see C.B phantasticus or any uroplatus for that matter.

I bought a pair at port credit pets from Neil Meister, and another female from a girl who was selling one.

You won't see any bite marks on the females neck as uroplatus species don't bite the neck they just hang on, I have seen my phants and ebens mating.I hope this doesn't sound nasty, it's not meant to.

It was probably skin from a shed because the day after I noticed the mark she shed.
