Making a crocodile skink cage.

Lizarddude720 Aug 12, 2004 04:14 PM

HI

I am going ot make a crocodile skin cag out of a 20l with hidin areas, a plexi glass wall for land and water, 8 plants( 4 land, 4 water) coconut bark, gravel, Repti glo 2.0 and a 50 watt moon glo. I was wondering if this is a good setup. I want to know if i should use different bedding, use a filter for the water, use no plants ect.
Thanks
Paul

Does anyone have the answers? I'm building a similar set-up. My main concern is that it's going to be hard to change the water because it won't be in a dish.

You're going to want to make it easy to change the water because bugs will die in it. Also, if you put a rock or something in the middle of the water, they like to hang out there. For substrate I'm trying a peat moss/cypress mulch mixture. Cork bark makes good hide spots but the superworms eat through it. But you might as well make the set up pretty because you don't see the skinks much. My setup is pretty plain right now. Keep in mind that you probably don't want to keep pairs together.

Thanks. You gave me some things to think about. Have you tried feeding superworms from a dish? And did it work for you? I'm hoping mine will learn to eat from a dish.

I'm also going to try to keep a pair together for breeding. Hopefully they will breed and then I’ll have a CB baby that isn’t so shy. Thanks again.
