mealworm growth

waldo Aug 12, 2004 07:00 PM

I got 1000 1/2 inch mealies with the idea that I would grow a few to large size for feeding while keeping the others in the fridge. My question is how fast/slow do meal worms grow? Should I grow them all bigger then refrigerate?I only have 2 leos and I don't want to waste my bugs feeding teeny tiny ones. Also, can I start a breeding colony with about 200 worms? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, you can start a colony with under 200, I used 150, but 300 or more is the recomended number (that is after you sacrifice some as food ) I've got some info on my website, check it out! www.freewebs.com/stephsgeckos its under "project self sufficentcy"
