do these work well?...im trying to get the entire top of the cage warm so my cham will use the entire cage up and down hopfully making it easier to find food since he just wanders around the top now becuase the basking spot makes just part of the cage top warm

also is there a way to "DIY" one of these?

If the only part of the cage that has much light is the top that is where he'll spend most of his time. I haven't used combo lights and am not quite sure what you mean. More lights on the top won't add to the overall cage light, and you don't want the whole cage warm. You can easily put a non-ReptiSun (or use an old ReptiSun that still works) strip light vertically along one side of the cage to brighten the lower areas up. He'll tend to use more of the cage to hunt. Just keep one shady secluded area for him to retreat to.
