Justin Stricklin Jun 24, 2003 12:26 AM

I found an earth worm that measures 13"'s long when stretched out. I did not know they got this big in the US. I live in North west ALabama. Can you tell me what kind it is. Don't they reproduce asexxually? I found it in a rotten log that was over 50 years old. It htough I found a snake but it turns out to be a worm. It's almost as wide as my little finger. Here is a few pics. The container is 7"s accross.

I am from Plains(near Wilkes-Barre), but living in philly now. When i used to go fishing in the Susquhana, I used to see monsters in puddles. These guys were at least a foot in length. Sobering when i look at the worms that I would use.

Actually, they're hermaphroditic, with single worms producing both eggs and sperm, but requiring mating with another worm to fertilize their eggs. Both worms then go on to produce eggs sacks.
