Thiaminase destroys vitamin B1 in snakes, and I've read contradicting things on this-- Do common goldfish have thiaminase or not? Thanks.

I believe all fish in the carp family do, and goldfish, rosies, and comets are in the carp family so they must.

Most gold fish breeders put some chemicals or something in the water to kill the algae and it will build up in the liver of turtles so I'm sure it will do the same thing to snakes. They also are high in fat. I use shiners for the most part and locally caoght minnows from creeks and stuff. About ever 4th or 5th feeding I dip the tail end of the fish in some herptivite and then feed it to it. Swithcing to mice works good too. If fish are easier then do it. If mice are easier do it.
