Pueblan or Honduran??

zombielove Aug 12, 2004 11:18 PM

Here is a picture of a snake i got about 2 months ago. We were told that he is an adult Pueblan Milksnake, but i'm starting to wonder. is it possible that he is a yearling tri-color Honduran? i am wondering because his red sections just seem to long to me for him to be a Pueblan, plus he has black tipping on his white areas which i know is popular in Hondurans and will eventually overtake the white completely with age. (i have not heard of this in pueblans) is there anyway to tell for sure?? thank you so much!!

Hondurans have thinner black bands. Looks like a pueblan to me, but I'm no expert.

Pueblans can have very wide red rings. The snake you hold is a more "normally" colored and patterned adult Pueblan milksnake, not a Honduran.

Thanks, I figured as much, but I just wanted to make sure. I was reading an article in Reptiles magazine about black tipping in Hondurans, and they picture they had looked just like my snake, causing me to be curious. I also wanted to know for sure since i do plan on breeding him in the future, and I didn't want to get a female for him, and it be the wrong type. lol.

Thanks again.
