I’ve noticed that my Northern Alligator Lizard’s Neck appears thicker than usual and head seems broader? Is this a trait of sexual maturity in adult male Alligator Lizards? Or am I looking at a case of lizard mumps? His neck doesn’t feel hard to the touch, and he shows no signs of tenderness when it’s touched. But in the last 2 months (he is almost 3 years old) I have noticed an extreme difference in facial features. But none of the other Alley’s appears to be changing. Judging by behavior alone, he is the only suspected male in the cage. I know in some other species of lizards, the adult males tend to get thick in the jewels, but I hadn’t heard this about alleys. Any thoughts?

Could be a maturing male, one of my males has what appear to be jowls.
