I cut The Eggs After 64 Days! more

Randy_Middleton Aug 13, 2004 06:19 AM

I have 9 eggs and after 64 days I cut them open, leaving them in their medium. This was Wednesday nite and as of this morning no one has come out! They all seem fine and will move some in the egg. This is the first time I have had this situation. Any feed back is welcomed!

I went longer then normal this season as well with some not emerging until 70 days, i cut mine at 60.
Had 100% hatch rate from two clutches one of 11 and one of five, now just gota get all the buggers feeding, not only my longest to hatch but slowest to start feeding.

Just leave them where they are Randy. They probably have some yolk to absorb before they decide to come out and meet the world.

I had one tiny baby come out of the top egg in the clutch - the egg collapsed early on to about half the volume of the original egg. It's so small, but it still came out first - between day 64 and 65 (Wed morn). I just came home now to find another with its head out of the egg finally, on day 67. I guess they'll come out when they feel like it. The rest are normal sized.

Here is the tiny wrinkly baby... I took better pics myself, but I have to develop them.

related to incubation temps. If you are in the high range
of ~90-91 degrees, the eggs will *typically* hatch sooner
than eggs incubated at the lower range of ~85-86 degrees (which
in my opinion is too low). I like to try to peg my temps at
about 89-90 degrees and they typically hatch in the 52-58 day
range.

Of course...sometimes mother nature has other plans!
Best of luck to you.

My last clutch was incubated at about 1-2 degrees warmer yet the hatched a few days later. I was at a loss.

Yes, it should only be taken as a rule of thumb that slightly
warmer will result in slightly less incubation time.
Like I said...Mother Nature has her own schedule!
Best of luck to you.
