Atlas511 Aug 13, 2004 04:29 PM

How exactaly is a 66.6% het produced? If i breed a granite female 66.6% het for albino to a male albino 100% het for granite what will i produce? Sorry im still a little confused about the genetics stuff.

Basically, you have a 66% chance of producing albinos with that match up. The female is "probably" het for albino. But there is a chance she isn't, in which case there will be no albino babies.

So dose that mean if there are albino babies in their first clutch that the female is 100% het albino?

If there are any albino babies, then that 66% probability heterozygous albino really is a heterozygous albino.

Shoot for 17 or more normal babies and no albinos when you breed them before giving up on her. If there are less than 17 eggs in the first clutch, and no albinos come out of them, then you should go for a second clutch. The odds of getting 17 normal babies (and no albinos) from two heterozygous albinos are one in a hundred. That's point where I'd figure that it isn't a heterozygous albino. Good luck.

If you breed 2 100% hets together. The offspring that is not a visual morph is 66% het. for that morph.
