Last saturday i went to the Hamburg show. (it was great!)A guy was there (i think reptile kingdom?? not 100% sure) and he was selling cresteds at about 2 1/2 3 inches in length sexed!? He wanted like $150 for the "females" they were really nice but i wasnt gonna spend that much for a "maybe". you know? I never got a chance to talk to the guy because he was caught up with customers. So i went away and bought a nice cream fire unsexed crested from Robbie Hamper. Has this guy figured out a way to sex these geckos and know one else knows?? or is he trying to play begginers to cresteds as fools?

Well, I have heard of people sexing baby snakes and other various lizards/geckos by using a little tool kit(sterile) to invert their "private area" and look inside with a magnified glass or high powered lens. I am sure that it could be done, but it is probably a special procedure you learn in "Sexing Herps 101" or something...lol.

They do it, just never heard of someone doing it with cresteds.

Yeah i have heard of them doing that as well.but the same, i have not heard it done with cresties.

I was @ the Hamburg show too & I think wemet & talked to the same guy, but unlike you...I was able to have him not only explain to me....he went as far as draw me a little diagram on paper....I told him I'm still not sold on the idea that he can sex cresties with a magnifying glass this way & he said he's been doing it for a long time & that he's even been 95% accurate....I'm still not sold....I asked him if he would guarantee that that little crestie would turn out to be a female 6mos. down the line & he sang a different tune then....the guy's name was John (Gecksters), he was from N.Y.gave me his phone#, cuz i'm interested in getting an Auric (Gargoyle) & he said he had some eggs cookin.

I even made the comment that, it's too bad that we can't pre-determine the sex of cresties by the temp. we incubate their eggs,(like Leos) & he went as far as to say that he's even done that with some success.....that's when I said have a nice day & moved on.

Ps. Hope you have better luck with ur "Hampner" crestie than I did dude. She's a good talker,Good Luck.

I dont know if we met i was standing at the guys table and he was talking and doing a deal with two women who were buying up his giant dixie frogs. So i never got a chance to talk to the guy. I dont think he would the only guy in the world who could sex cresteds, that was my whole reason for not buying from him. He has nice geckos but im not gonna pend the money he was asking for a two inch female. I bet he did sing a different tune. This is only my second show, so i still have some learning to do on who is gonna mess with my head and they were really trying with me. They took my age to their "advantage" cause i am 17 but for the most part i know what to look for.(i will possibly be a vendor soon at hamburg)

Can i ask what happened with your dealing with robbie hamper???

Yeah, I'll be there in Oct.,maybe we can hook up or something....I try & make all the Hamburg shows....even if I'n not buying anything. =o)

As far as Hamper goes, it's probably a good idea if I email you instead of posting it here, cuz it's not a very friendly post.
