New born baby northrn alli's

Help!!!
My wild Northern Alligator lizard is giving birth to babies!
She already succesfully birthed 2 healthy babies. I have found some little egg things, although this confuses me. I have heard that Northern alligator liazrds give birth to live young. So any help with this question would be really helpful. I have already made a seperate tank for the babies. They are so small I dont know what could fit in their mouths,so any info on what to feed them would be helpful!

Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
Just one more question. The mother still seems very reclusive and darts into corners. Should I make a better tank with more hiding spots or just let her be for a few days?
thanks for info!

You can buy pin-head crickets to feed the babies, just make sure to gut load them and dust them with a good calcium powder such as Rep-cal. In the case of northern als the eggs are shell-less and incubate inside the body. Occaisionally there will be "eggs" that weren't fertilized. These will be retained in the body until the female gives birth. The egg like things you saw are the eggs that never developed embryos.

Make sure you keep the babies separate from mom, and if she seems skittish more hiding places are a good idea. It would also be a good idea to leave her alone for a bit to let her recover her strength.

What subspecies are your northerns? My San Francisco female just gave birth to 9 babies on Monday.

Have fun with your new additions!

Hi agian!
Thanks a lot for the info on the babies alice. The subspiecies is the northwestern. And just today I caught a new pregnant female! I used your advice on how to catch allies by putting some plywood in the places I've seen them! It worked in just two days! The baby's are doing great in thier new tank and are getting along fine. Also thanks for clearing up the egg issue, i was pretty confused!
Well thanks again! I'll keep you posted on the lizard development!
