I just got my first monitor (a sav) about 3 months ago, and im still kind of learning, but im pretty sure rabbit/ferret cages would be a bad idea. for one i havent seen any that are wide or large enough to house an adult sav. also, it would be very hard to keep the heat in, as well as keep the right humidity with a cage that is all wire like that. They are not like iguanas, they are mainly terrestrial and need long and wide floorspace and not so much tallness anyways. Your best bet is to build youself a custom permanent enclosure.

I don't think I have seen any ferret or rabbit cages that were very much bigger than a 55, so I am thinking it would be a waste of money that would need to be replaced in a few months. One.

Open wire won't hold any heat or humidity. Not good. Savs want a deep pile of dirt and hot basking spot, not climbing shelves. I would look for something enclosed, solid but with some ventilation for airflow. Likely a custom enclosure will be the way to go. Try a cattle water trough, maybe a garden pond shell....
