BAH-100 THrm. Question

AaronFromPA Aug 14, 2004 08:50 AM

Hello again.

I have had my BAH-1000 hooked up now for about 5 days and it has been working OK. Currently I have the probe sitting on my tile almost on top of the hot spot generated by the UTH. Since I want the hot spot around 90-93 I set the BAH to around 90 since it is off the actual hot spot.

Through many days of trial and error I have realized I actually need to keep the temp setting around 83 or so in ordewre to keep my desired temps. Today however I woke up and my tile temp was 96 . I am thinking maybe due to the cold air temps the probe was not heating up, causing the UTH to remain on to heat it.

My point is the BAH has been just as much an issue as using a dimmer at this point. Has anyone else had trouble with this or can you give me any hints that will keep my temps stable with this thermostat?

I wouldn't lose any sleep over a few degrees. or - 5 degrees isn't a problem and your only real concern would be the max temp going too high. If you want it to stay at 90 but it goes to 95 at times, it is OK, the geckos can always move closer to the cool side, which is the whole reasoning behind a hot side/cool side set up.

I'm assuming you checked the differential? It's the only thing I can think of.

You are also assuming I know what you are talking about...which I dont. I am thinking it was the low ambient temp this morning in PA. How would I go about checking this?

The differential would be the number after the - if you were writing it out. For example, you say your temps are 90 - 6 (90 plus or minus six), so 6 would be the differential. It's the same thing as saying sensitivity to change.

After looking into it the bah-1000 doesn't have this setting... nevermind. I know the RANCO's do. SORRY!

On the Rancos I think you can change that setting from 1-30 degrees. If you get one you probably want the differential set at one to keep the temps at 89-91.

Thanks for the explanation . I was a tad confused to say the least. That is a nice feature and I will be looking into that model for my next enclosure.

Thanks for the info.
