How long between feeding attempts did you wait? Give the snake a few days (4-5) to calm down before you try again. If you are trying everyday, then you are probably stressing her out. This means don't mess with her for 4-5 days, no handling. You can check on her, but don't disturb her at all. Then what I would do, is pop a head off of a pink, try not to touch it too much. I use tweezers when handling it. (this way my scent doesn't get on the pink) Thaw it out at room temp or in warm water. Put the head and the snake in a deli cup overnite again. If this doesn't work, wait another few days, and maybe try "washing" the pink like some previously mentioned, and do the same thing. (some people also use paper bags, instead of deli cups, I never have though, so I couldn't tell you how to do it)
Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

because it seems you did not read my other post very carefully. Paula (Spardawolf) mentioned to leave the little one COMPLETELY alone for 4-5 days. I suggested the same thing in my earlier post. That means NO feeding attempts, NO handling, NO water changes, NO going into the enclosure for any reason. You have to remember that there are basically three reasons baby snakes (of any species) don't eat. They are 1) improper conditions (temps, humidity, security), 2) disease or illness and 3) stress. Since I am assuming your baby is cbb so we can most likely rule out number 2. That leaves numbers 1 and 3 and since there is sooooo much information out there on how to keep a corn snake, I will leave that as a slim possibility, but feel free to share your setup details. That leaves number 3 which in my nearly 30 years of keeping reptiles, is the number one reason why they don't eat. So with that being said, try leaving your little one alone AT LEAST 4 days and then use a LIVE pinky in the deli cup with your snake, but do it at around 9pm and leave it overnight. The live pinky along with some solitude and quiet may just jump start your baby. Again, your little one seems to have a good feeding response from your below post, but just needs to feel completely safe so she can finish her meal. I'll say it again, it sounds like during the earlier feeding attempts when she killed the live pinky and picked up the f/t pinky, but left both, she was disturbed or got frightened before she could start swallowing it. Again, best of luck and let us know - but we don't want to hear from you until next THURSDAY! LOL! Billy

If not, some people swear by it, but remember to wait for 5 days to try it, as the other posters have said.

What is the tuna water trick???

phflame Aug 15, 2004 10:36 AM

the water that you drain off the top of a can of tuna fish. Leave it in there for a few minutes, then put it directly into your feeding container with the snake. Don't rinse it off. Good luck and let us know if he eats.

>>Don't try to rush it too much.
Give it a few days and try the live pinkie scented with tuna.
It worked for a butter I have.
I got it in April, it was a month or two old then, and it had never eaten on its own up until three weeks ago. I tried the tuna trick and it ate for the first time on its own. It ate again last week also but refused this week. It is in the blue so I think it will probably eat again next week. I am still having trouble with my anerys though. Two have never eaten on their own (Born in April) And one of their clutch mates finally ate a couple of times and then quit eating again. I am working on them and hope to get them eating one of these days.

I had a kingsnake hatchling (very fat with yolk to begin with) that had never eaten.... over SIX months it shed five times... then it escaped... I still see shed skins from time to time.
