Surprise baby. What morph?

Katt Aug 14, 2004 01:37 PM

My blizzard x blood red corns started to pip today and the first one out was this anery looking baby. Now, what form of anery is this? Charcoal? I think so b/c of the pink on the face and overall blue colour, but I have never seen baby charcoals before. However, I would like the opinion of others. I do not know what the blood red is carrying, nor who produced him as I bought him from Daytona a few years ago and brought him with me into Canada. Two other eggs have pipped one looks normal and the other is the same colour as this guy. Thanks for any help and opinions.

Do you know if the blizzard is het for anery A?It could be that he carries both anery A and B.

I have no idea what the parents are het for. I thought that maybe both blood red and blizzard are both het for anery A, but I would expect to find not that many anery babies and I have two in the first three babies! I'll see how the rest of the clutch hatches. Does anyone have pics of hatchling charcoals and hatchling aneries to compare?

Maybe someone already sent a pic of a comparison of the two. Here is a shot from my photo gallery from a few years ago.

I would say Charcoal. Looks Charcoal to me.
The blizzard carries anery B (charcoal) so it would seem that the bloodred is het Anery B (charcoal).
You should get about 50/50 normal & charcoal.

I don't have pictures of a charcoal but here are a couple of pictures of a baby anery A.
Notice the contrast between saddles and background. The background is usually more white in Anery A's and more of a grey with charcoals.
Now, there are always exceptions but this is generaly true.

The baby pictured is only a few hours old. Perhaps it will darken/lighten? Thanks again.

Yes, you should see it lighten up after it's first shed in about a week, give or take a few days.

Congrats!

I have no idea the differences between charcoal and anery A....

but figure this......

Blizzards are snows from amel and charcoal.......

Bloodreds are crossed with Charcoal alot to make pewters.....

odds are it is a charcoal.......?.......

have fun........

*(only way to tell would be to breed it to an anery A and get all double hets.......but that would be a waste.....or even breed it to a blizzard?......)
