Chacoan or normal?

Prttyhtmchn Aug 14, 2004 06:13 PM

I bought my Argentine B&W male as a normal, & have recently read about the Chacoan morphs. I tried comparing pictures myself, but am only able to find pictures of adults, & my tegu is still a juvenile. Anyway, I was told by one tegu owner that he looks like a Chacoan, but would like a second opinion. Here's his picture. Please let me know if you think he's normal or not. He's between 1-1.5 years old. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm no expert, but I consider a chacoan to be any tegu with an abnormally white head. I got mine from Bert also, and he said he picked me out one with a nice white head, but he didn't say chacoan. I consider mine chacoan. There may be some scientific criteria, but I don't know what it is. I would consider yours chacoan. On Bert's film and in a lot of photos of other tegus, the common tegu in Argentina seems to have a very dark head, the white is more or less small lines. It seems reversed in yours and mine. Also, these tegus have been line bread for several generations, trying to bring out certain traits like the white head. Sorry for the ramble, hope this helps.

Now that I think about it, he's only about a year old. Anyway, that isn't a recent picture... it was taken several months ago. Thank you boidsntegus for your response.
