i think i'm gonna get a pair of dumerils...

i wanted to know if i could keep the babys in a screen mesh terrerium. and then when they get bigger could i possibly be able to trim thier nails and keep them in a mesh cage? and does anyone know where i could possibly get a pair of juviniles? also, is it possible to be able to determine sex that young?(by probing)and (i just seem to be going on and on lol) does anyone have a pic of an adult fully stretched out? tail and all? every pic i see is of the body or head.

No, they can't be kept in a mesh enclosure when young, or as adults.

No, they can't be sexed by probing, when young, or as adults.

Why mesh, anyway?

I have some info I received from Mike Fost many years ago (aka: Atlanta Zoo) that says that V. dumerilii is VERY hard to sex even with ultrasound. So I guess it's a crap shoot. I have a female, but I think I got real lucky!
Mesh cage???!!!! NO WAY, they will tear straight through it. Go with an aquarium at the very least.
I only keep dumerils for now, so if you want to talk just shoot me an email.

Tearing straight through it is the least of your problems with a mesh cage. Lack of humidity and improper temperatures would be the biggest issues.
