I can't decide which one to get.
I've been told that Easterns are hard to get eating mice and or rats, and will only accept toads. Not to familiar with Westerns.
Any advice, or help??

If you don't have any experience with hognose already, go the easy way and get a western. Even some westerns can be tricky at times but usually feed better and live longer than the easterns (since most easterns are a pain to get feeding and stress quite easily at first). Most easterns you will see in stores are WC anyway. Try some different breeders and talk to them about their western hogs (there are tons on the classifieds). If they are feeding well, then think it over, do some research, and decide if they are for you.

I agree with the last post. Start with a western first!!!

Hands down (and nose up!) Westerns are the way to go. Easier to feed, find, purchase for decent prices, etc. FYI, Easterns can indeed thrive on an all rodent diet. I have no problems making the claim that those that can't get an Eastern to eat mice don't know enough about them, and don't know all the tricks needed. I have 4 adult Easterns all eating mice. In fact, the youngest one will eat crickets, thawed bull minnows, and just recently, wax worms! And people say they only eat toads???
