Hey there.
I'm thinking of getting a leopard gecko, and was aondering whether an aquarium is suitable for keeping him in or will I need to get a vivarium?
Thanks

Whatever you do, don't use an aquarium! Your gecko will drown in all that water!

What if I empty all the water out first?
They were just jacking with you...a 10 gallon is fine for one leopard, or even a pair. Any more than that...move up to a 20L
Aquarium...Vivarium...Terrarium...different names for what is essentially the same thing, i.e. a glass or plastic box, except that if one is labeled "aquarium" it's watertight, if it's labeled "vivarium" or "terrarium" it may or may not be watertight.
Personally I would consider a 10 gal barely adequate for a single leo, but feel a 20 long for one or two animals is better. I prefer a naturalistic looking setup, and with more floor space there are just more design possibilites, as well as greater scope for the animal to show different behaviors.
IMHO.
Chris
I also agree that a ten gallon tank is too small for an adult leo...never mind two. A ten gallon would be ok for a baby but you would definitely need to upgrade as the gecko grows-which they do very quickly. Best of luck.
