GOT MY FIRST EVER EASTER KING....Totally awesome

BOBAFETT Aug 15, 2004 03:51 AM

Well, i went to the local annual show here. I looked at every vendor, saw lots of neat kings, but no easterns*understandable being on the west coast*. Well, i almost gave up, but at the very last vendor, there are the most beautiful hatchlings! Perfect coloration, good health, and i picked out the biggest and healthiest female i could find. Well, i set her up in a ten gallon, on high quality aspen, with water, hides, shed box, heat pad and a lamp*mostly just for lighting*. I know the basics, but i want her to be happy, and perfectly healthy. What can i do to make that happen? She has been pretty shy, and doesnt come out, but three days after i got her, she ate for her first time since she was born. And damn quickly, not a picky eater* a good sign, and a typical king!* So anyway, i dont mind going out of my way to spoil my snakes, so what would be optimum for an environment, what temp range, what humidity, what substrate etc. would be prime? Hope i made sense, and hope you can all advise me so my new addition grows up really healthy and becomes a monster!

Dan

Congratulations! You seem pretty excited. It sounds like you have everything covered. I would get rid of the light, unless you really gotta have it. The snake doesn't need it.

Care is pretty simple, your snake will want to hide most of the time, and should be allowed to do so. I find that buying 11 or 12 more snakes helps prevent me from doting too much on just one!
