Water monitors?

torayoma Aug 15, 2004 01:37 PM

I'm thinking about getting a Sumatran Water Monitor and I was wondering what type of enclosure they need? Should I base it off Asian monitors or wing it and come up with my own design?

I've already come up with some 'stimulating' designs for the monitor which include a dirt barrier that he can tunnel through to get to another cage with a better pool and I've started building a maze so he can run through it while searching for food.

Another thing, should I switch to f/t and prekilled from live?

Honestly, theres alot that goes into keeping a water monitor.

Building it a maze before you get one is nice and all that but, not practical. Nothing wrong with keeping it stimulated, but that ALWAYS comes after you keep it for a little while.

Like the cliche saying "KISS", Keep it Simple Stupid. Get em eating and going before you start to experiment.

Size of your enclosure depends on what size water you're getting.
