Rare Queen Snake?? .....

HerperHelmz Aug 15, 2004 02:18 PM

Hello all,

I went water snake hunting yesterday, found a small northern about 10 inches long, a close to 2 and a half foot northern and a queen snake about 10 inches long.

I've had many queen snakes, and the spots on their bellies are always brown or black, but the one I caught yesterday has yellow/orangish spots on it's belly. Would this be considered not normal?

The ones I have seen hav the yellow stripes on the bottom. Well, not on bottom but on the bottom of the sides. Lets see if you can get it to eat mice like I did? I have not found one since that. Wish I would htough. I'm ready. I never paid attention to any bottom markings. I think the oens i have seen had just a brownish whitch belly.

Sadly, I have seen what happens to the snakes in your care.

And yes, Queen Snakes can have yellow markings on their bellies.

Right, not all snakes I have become feeder food. I have nothing that could eat any of the snakes I caught, by the way. And I wouldn't use a water snake or queen snake as food.

Just my stupid 2 cents but in Jersey where I'm from all queen snakes are rare. Supposedly they haven't been spotted since the 70's or something like that.
