Palmtree Fruit???

ForestTime Aug 15, 2004 10:30 PM

Our palmtrees out front have produced these fruit pods(?) this year (didn't do it last year that we seen but we were new to our house then)....

It's like a palm frawn that doesn't have the green just the fruit & I mean LOADED with fruit. They look very similar to a loquat or kumquat.

Has anyone fed these to their iggies? For those of you in FL, what are they called (felling stupid here)?

Forest got one today & wanted MORE but I was the mean momma & took him out back before he could woof done a dozen or more which I'm sure he would have if he could have...LOL.

Any info on this fruit? I'll try & get a pic of the stuff tomorrow.

Thanks,
Terri

What type of palm tree is it? When you find out then you can look it up to see if it is good or bad for them.

Are they pulpy? Out here we have a certain kind of palm that makes big clusters of fruit, but the skin covers a very thin layer of pulp, and most of the fruit is the inner nut.
