Gila eggs in incubator

whitneywee Aug 16, 2004 11:00 AM

Boy this forum is slow. Here's a pic of 5 gila eggs laid 6/11. Seem to be doing well so far. The small egg is a Moroccan uromastyx egg I put in as an experiment. It's also doing well, whereas all the others in the clutch incubated on quite dry vermiculite went bad.

I'm following the method Dr. Seward describes in his book. The eggs are on polyester. The dishes are in a container with wet perlite. The eggs are dry, but the humidity is 100 percent. Works with Gila eggs, and it looks like it works with uromastyx eggs, not surprisingly as it's also a desert species. Most uromastyx breeders incubate at much higher temps than the 80 degrees for Gilas.
