NEW BOA BREEDER.. BEEN READING AND NEED SOME HELP.... PLEASE READDD

SNAKEMAN12345 Aug 16, 2004 02:54 PM

okay i am a new breeder, i have kept boas my whole life and i think it would be so cool to breed them and i am dedicated to doing it. i was reading a boa breeding book and i was wondering a few things about it that i could not really understand in it. so far from what i understand the temperatures stay in between 82-85 degrees. i know you cycle the temperatures but i was wondering, do you cycle the temperatures when they are away from eachother for 8 weeks then put them together and bring the temperatures back to normal for breeding or do you keep the temperature at what it was durring those 8 weeks? and would it be good to keep the temp at 85 the whole year and when they cycle the 8 weeks make 82? and again, do i keep it at 82 threw the whole breeding season or change it back to 85? and should i do the temp change around the beginning of november and just put the snakes together when the cycle is up at the end of december? and how many months should i keep them together for the breeding season? sorry for all the questions, i have been reading but i dont get what they are saying alot of the time and i just want to double check with everyone so i get it all right as i go along in the book. THANK YOU and pleaseeeeee answer all of my qwuesions!

Alot of them offer breeding advice, pick out the stuff that seems to be a common theme. Introduce them when you bring the temps back up. the 82-88 should be your gradiant so go lower. I've heard people go as low as 74. too low in my opinion but hey, if it works for 'em. anyway. unless you catch them in the act it's herd to tell (for me at least) if they've handled their business but once the male seems to lose interest it's a safe bet you can seperate them. I always say I'm not a pro and I'm not, but I hope I helped some.
