Genetic markers....

wallyworld Aug 16, 2004 04:02 PM

I have heard of the genetic markers on het pieds being toward the end of the tale when the markings connect and make a horizontal line. I happen to have a 66% male that has these markings.

Does anyone know of any for het albinos (I have 6 poss het females)?

thanks,
Rob

I have two 100% het pieds that do and two 100% het pieds that do not. Gee I should have checked them out first. I had a person who would have bought my 50% hets that had those markings. I did not take them to the show.... I told him if I had them he could buy them......But I told him that I am selling them as 50% het pieds. Guess his loss? I do not believe in it. Just likea high white pied will produce low white pieds....

I suggest you ignore this hype about the "gentic markers". Nothing has been proven. Rick did a good job laying out the facts. Some have those markings, some don't. I have an normal that has OUTSTANDING "pied gentic markings" on her. Out of all my REAL pied hets, her marking are the best, hands down. If I let you in the snake rack and you looked for those markings you'd walk off with a nice normal. Like Rick said, about 1/2 my pied hets have it and half don't.

How about a pic of this normal. Where did she come from and have you bred her to a het pied yet?

What percentage of your het pieds have the mark and what percentage of your normals have it?

It sure sounds to me like it is very useful for looking at possible hets even if all hets don't have it and some normals might.

Yep........

I have 50% poss het albinos.....normal male.......normal females....and huge normal females.....more than one....and they all have some sort of stripings at the rear underside of them.......
(not all my balls.....just alot....)....* yes....they are realetd....yes they have genetic marker......they got it from the huge female.......

.........yep..........

......they say it's there......but alot of pied hets don't have it.....so it's not a good marker.........

How about some belly pics of these assumed normals so we can see how much they are alike what we are seeing in some het pieds?
