Handling help

Gpoop Aug 16, 2004 04:14 PM

Hi, Iv'e been trying to handle my dragon but he runs away. I put my hand in his cage and I get about 2cm from his face and he runs. I've been dangling greens in front of his face every time. Sometimes he takes the greens but most of the time he closes his eyes which then I pet his head but he opens them and backs up. Should I keep doing this or should I grab him.Thanks.

P.S. I had him for about a week and he's about 6 inches and shedding!

First off i'd give him a little more time to settle down and get used to his new place. Could be he's just not used to you or being handled regularly.

As for handling him, I'd suggest approaching him up slowly but don't reach down from above as that can spook him. make sure he sees your hand the whole time as you're approaching him and it may calm him down a bit more

Also from personal experience if he's just been fed I find he's in "hunter mode" and doesnt like to be picked up immediatly afterwards.

Again this is just personal experience so anyone please feel to correct me or add anything else

yeah, i have the same thing. mine is 6 inches about and hes shedding too. Rosco lets me pick him up and handle him for as long as i like, but soon as i put him down for a second he doesnt let me pick him up again and goes beserk. ive handled him every day now and hes doing better. Well keep trying!
