Wow,...that looks like it realy hurts! That sux. Please do not hesitate to ask if I may be of assistance in some way. I'm not a vet, or an expert by a long shot, but I'd say he's in pretty good hands right now. There will be plenty of good advice here from others I am sure.
Man,...are we in the middle of a real bad carma cycle or what?!

"No tree would have branches foolish enough to argue amonst themseleves".
In 1 of my adults some years back. It was an adult Indigo I purchased from a petshop & the thing constantly blistered & looked awful. Well I bought this product called New Skin @ the Wal-mart pharmacy. Sprayed it on Tango & after 6 months of dilegence she looks ALMOST like a textbook specimen. First when I got her the tail area had a 3 inch laceration on it & it was pink & raw. But spray her with 'new skin' every week to keep infection & dirt from getting inside it. After about 8 sheds it's all a nice solid black in color now & unless you look REAL close at her tail, she's otherwise a normal Indigo.
Best of luck with your little guy.
