I have not noticed this, but the majority of my tegu's diet is not fowl. I just think the most interesting feeding pics are those are the little birds =)
Right now I have their daylight hours from 7am to 9pm on a timmer. They typically wake up 11-11:30 in the morning and come out for sun (sometimes I wake stewy up, martha is always anxious for the warm light.)
This is typical feeding for each of my tegus:
Martha:
10-20 superworms at about noon to get her body awake ready to do some real eating. Then anywhere between 12:30 and 2:30, whenever she looks active enough to eat she gets some combination of red seedless grapes, green seedless grapes, cherries that have been depitted, and some other various fruits. As soon as she is no longer interested in eating fruits, she usually gets a 75ish gram rat. Once a week instead of rat she is given 1 or more hard boiled eggs cut into eighths, and once a week either a baby chick or a 1week quail. A few hours after her main feeding she is offered another little treat if she is still hungry, usually an adult mouse, a bunch of superworms, or maybe peice of egg.
Stewart gets 5-10 superworms at noon with martha. Once he is warmed up and ready to do some real eating he is usually given a grape or two, sometimes a piece of kiwi. Then he is offered an adult mouse, though he doesnt eat it ever day. There is an 80% he will eat the mouse, and if he doesn't then he is offered superworms until full, which he readily eats up. On the days Martha gets egg as her main meal Stewart does as well. He also gets a bird about once a week, also with about 80% of eating it.
Both my tegus really love superworms. To get stewy to eat more mice I usually use this little trick... I drop in a superworm and runs over and eats it up fast. Then as soon as he is done chewing i drop another one in, and he grabs that up fast. Then I drop the thawed mouse in, and he he will grabs it expecting to be eating a 3rd superworm. Then he finds himself with a mouse in his mouth and usually just goes with it.
Both the tegus also have access to a water dish that I try to keep stocked with three or so feeder golfish which they like to snack on. I also give them superworms throughout the day as little treats when I let them walk around the apartment.
I've also got a little beardie, Puff. He refuses to eat any prey larger than insects; he eats lots veggies.
