Star Tortoise Temp. sex determination

tor2ga Aug 16, 2004 08:25 PM

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me the temperature threshold for male or female star tortoise eggs in an incubator? I read somewhere that between 80.6 deg F(27deg. C) and 86deg F (30deg. C) will produce males and between 86.9deg F (30.5deg. C) and 91.4deg F (33deg.C) will produce females. Is this correct?
Has anyone had any experience incubating Star eggs?

Chev

I have just hatched some Star ( 3rd seasons ) I mostly kept them incubated around 30 deg. C to have some M n F
But this season last November i incubator them at 26.5 to 28 deg. C n i think the hatchlings turn out Majority M ( 7/9 )
And they took a long time to Hatched something like 8 months the longest ever for me .Hope these will be of some help
