How good are...

How good are middle stage mealies for small mud turtles? I would think they would be pretty good for them. I dropped one in his tank to see what he would do and he went totally nuts! He ran over as fast as he could and bit it. It was too big to swallow so he took it under water and tore it apart with his claws. It was awesome! I seem to always have a supply of middle stage mealies on hand and I was wondering if I could feed these regularly along with commerical turtle food, earthworms and small crickets.

Also another good thing about them is they float, unlike the earthworms, so they are easier to feed. So, what do you all think?

Unfortunatly they are not very nutritious. But they are hard and this is good for muds' hard beaks and they definitely inspire excitement so using them now and then is surely not bad and is a good way to get a reluctant feeder to eat. Also if you raise them yourself, your choice of foodstuffs (for the mealworms) will have some small impace. Feed on a wide varity of grains and fruits and carrots and some egg shells and egg whites (or a diet similar to that for superworms).
