can somebody pls pls pls id the species of this specimen pls. i bought a couple of them from a trader in Kuala Lumpur. He claimed that they are JCP. after checking the specimens out, i was not convinced and confronted him about the matter. later that day, we had a very confusing time trying to determine whether they are IJCP or JCP or a mix of both or more. so guys we in dire need of help. is this IJCP or JCP or both?

i thought so. but here's the real question. in that clutch 50% look like the specimen in the pix but another 50% look like the JCP babies with black bg and pale cream white patterns. my theory is that they are mutt. but i maybe wrong. i guess we will never know the answer huh?!?....unless pix of parents were made available.

Crosses are a possibility with no background info.

Just so you know, not all IJ(Papuan)have fading color right off the bat. What your looking for is if the bands fade as they near the belly. If they all have it to a degree they have IJ influence.

Best of luck with the little tykes.

That looks like a number of baby Irian Jayas that I've seen. Also, if some of the other clutchmates were darker (black/tan), that would not make me think that they're JCP or mutts. Many baby Irian Jayas turn black and tan within a few sheds...these are the specimens that ultimately turn out very dark in color as adults.

Besides the fact that I hightly doubt that many people in Kuala Lampur are breeding JCP x Irian Jaya crosses, I see absolutely no reason to think that those are anything but pure Irian Jaya/Papuan Carpets.
