Has anyone ever tried using special cereals like Total or Special-K as gutload for crickets? Does it work well, and is there anything in it that's bad for leopard geckos?

Gecko_LoL, I'm sorry, but can I add to your question?
I just bought some bird food (for parrots) to feed my mealworms and crickets, it has various seeds, corn, wheat, peanuts, alfalfa meal, brewers dried yeast...etc. and various vitamins and minerals. I grinded it to almost powder-like, and sprinkled onto the mealworm bedding, I also gave a cup to the crickets; that sound good?
As for cereals, I tried Nutri-grain before, it seems fine. But since it tastes sweet, I am not sure if its ok for the geckos, so I stopped using it.
The bird feed sounds like a good gutload to me, especially since you're grinding it up.
I don't use boxed breakfast cereals (not even baby cereals) because they don't seem that nutritious. Low calcium, high phosphorous, too much sugar, sodium, etc. If you want though, try 10 grain hot cereal. I buy it from the bulk section at the organic grocery.
