Hello, I have recently reviewed this forum and thought I MAY HAVE SOME INFORMATION TO ADD TO YOUR VERY INFORMATIVE AND ENERGETIC ARENA.
My experience has covered collecting many species of Drymarcon in the wild as well as keeping them and others species in captivity. I have had many varieties of neonate animals in my possession over the years and most recently searched for Y.T.s in Trinidad with a planned trip to return to Tobago for the darker race found there. Apparently, it is more commonly seen on Tobago for most of the Drys in Trinidad are purported to have become arboreal due to the introduction of the mongoose.
I have collected several Drys in Mexico and have owned specimens from Belize which were red like the Yucatan specimens whos photographs appeared on this forum.
I live in Florida and have had many encounters with the different races of cooperi from all over the state. I personally know many of the herpetologists from Florida you have mentioned ,including the previouse owners of the Shed, Joe and Loui.
I have so many interesting stories and photographs to share that I don't know were to start!
Phil

Welcome, great to have more people with "field experience" on the forum, particularly South American experience. Hurry up & post some stories of Drymarchon in the wild.

I must be honest, my experiance with " South American " drys is nil. We were actualy collecting ALL herps from the Island and we did not find any YT's. But Boos says they are much more prevalent on Tobago and if we hope to see any, this will be the place and this snake is high on our list, along with Clelia, and Pseustes. All unfortunately are very rare on Trinidad these days thanks to a high population of snake hating people. It seems the bigger and more obvious, the rarer. We did manage to see a DOR
pseustes on the East side of the island. It was black all over with a creamy yellow throat interspersed with black lines, very impressive at five feet long and rather stout bodied. Looked very similar to the D.cooperi I find here. ( My son picked up a five footer in my yard just this morning. She had a creamy yellow throat with some red in the middle scales.) I thought it rather ironic that I would see an indigo the morning after I registerd with your forum. It is only the second Dry I have seen on my property, but they can be some what prevalent in my area.

Welcome!

BUT... I would be VERY cautious about admitting in an open forum, especially this one that you are handling wild couperi.
Big brother is watching!
