Updates on 66% HET albino babies, and getting close to YOU KNOW WHAT!

Damon Aug 17, 2004 09:33 AM

Man I wish these little guys would start eating!

Out of my 2.4 66% HET albinos only one has been eating.

One of the females is now pounding live fuzzy rats no problem.

But the other 5 snakes still do not seem interested. One of the smaller ones from the clutch is starting to look pretty skinny.

These guys hatched out on July 24th. So today they are 23-days old.

Is this kind of normal? Again this is my first batch of babies that I am STARTING, I have raised babies before lots of em, but only ones that were already started.

The one female is getting huge already! It's amazing how fast they put on the weight when they start eating those chunky rat puppies!

I remember someone on the forums told me, they had a clutch of Pastels that took 2-months before they started feeding.

Two months! Man they must really start to look skinny at 2-months!

PS....5 days left for that pastel clutch with the one dead egg.

The mother snake has some very nice blushing esp on her head, I would be thrilled to get 2 pastels from the 4 eggs that are left.

I don't know if you have tried mouse hoppers or not, but you should. If you are still trying to feed them rat fuzzies, you may want to try offering them different things. Even if they take a mouse hopper, you can always switch them back to rats later on (it isn't that big of a deal). Good luck.

I'd have to agree with that last post. Everyone wants their babies on rat pups as they grow much faster and as adults it's cheaper and easier! I was lucky enough for 2.4 of the 3.4 100% het albinos took rat fuzzies when they arrived. They had been on mice with their breeders. When the little male didn't take the rat I next went to a hopper which was running around like crazy and it took him 2 minutes to seek out and nail the little guy. Good luck with them!

My little guy (born on july 1) is a picky eater also. I found that the only way I can get him to eat is to stick a fuzzy "IN" his hidebox at night. Normally, it takes about an hour before he eats it, but once he does, he'll take one or two more farely quickly. Worth a shot.

I forgot to add that putting him in a small deli cup with a fuzzy also has worked pretty well for me!
