Heat Tape

cmh7s Aug 17, 2004 10:17 AM

I am considering expanding my current bp collection and was wondering what kind of heat tape you all use with your sterlite rack setups? Specifically, what is the width and wattage and how do you run it (one strip under tank, etc) and where do you get it? Pictures would be wonderful! Thanks in advance.

I use Flexwatt heat tape. I get it from Beanfarm.com.

How I use it is I get some foil tape and tape the shelf i am going to be putting the heat tape on. Then I lay the heat tape over that foil tape, I use a few small pieces of the foil tape to secure it to the shelf so when I slide the box it wont catch and fold the tape back. Thats it for setup. The sterlite boxes have little feet so it holds the box slightly above the tape for airflow.

The size of tape depends on your preference, and/or cage size.

Flexwatt comes in 2 sizes, 3in. and 11in. The 3in. uses 10watts per foot, and the 11in. uses 20watts per foot.

Hope this helps. let me know if you need any more info.

AND it comes in 4" (rated 8 watts/foot). This is the most common size for BP racks.
