Sounds about right...but i just woak up so i could have missed something?! Are you getting all female geckos? Because (and i have seen this come up a lot on here latley!!!) you really shouldnt house juv females with males because the males will try to breed with them before they are ready (females shold be 50 grams before breeding), and that could result in stress or an unhealthy pregnancy.

yah, see what i mean, i missed the SAND! if you are getting juv (most likely if you get them from a pet store) they could become impacted from the sand, as there tiny digestive systems just cant get it out! sand is a controversial thing even when they are adults, so my advice would be to switch to tiles (you can still use the sand inbetween the tiles, and in their "bathroom corner" or just get some repti-carpet and switch back when they are older.

Oh..I will be feeding them in a seperate cage..so no eating around sand

Snarks Aug 17, 2004 12:08 PM

wow seperate cage? that'll be a lot of work
i would suggest putting a big slab of tile where your food dish is, then they won't eat sand.

Hey anyone try those soy sauce trays, the ceramic smooth ones? Mealworms can't get out of them i swear!

What about crickets, Its kind of hard to keep them on a tile or paper towels. I have a feeder tray already which the mealies cant get out of. I was more referring to the crickets

Yah they're a huge pain in the butt, i personally hate crix and will only feed them as a treat

I cripple the crix, cuz my older female is a little off on her aim. I take a spoon after i've dusted the crix with the powders then basically break their necks. They still twitch but they won't run

...maybe not an entire seaporate cage, you could just get a tank divider (beware of escape-ability though) and all you would have to get is a seaporate water dish!

I think I will just crack down today...clean the calci sand I bought and lay down papertowels. I will hit petco or a local pet shop and pick up some hides, barks and stones to climb on and go from there. I will feed mealies and then a seperate dish for some calci powder and a 3rd dish for water.

Can they climb ok as babies or should I have a low lever water/food dish for now?

thanks
