Heating at night

Resss Aug 17, 2004 12:12 PM

Hi,
I will set up a res tank soon. I have a question about the heating of basking area. The water will be at 77F and the basking area will be at 86F, but at night I will turn off the lamp of basking area not to disturb res while they were sleeping. Do they need a heat source at night(like seramic heater or red basking lamp) for basking area while they were sleeping. By the way, my room temperature is 70-72 at night in winter.

Nighttime heat is not necessary, they are supposed to cool down at night.

Just the air temp should go down, water retains its heat so well that a lake full of water is not going to get cooler at night. I don't use a heater, but even in my tank the water stays the same.
