RES Foaming at the Mouth?

demunchkin Aug 17, 2004 12:48 PM

I have a five inch RES and a four inch RES. I've never had any health problems with either before.

I'm trying to figure out what this problem is with the five inch RES (or even if there is a problem). For that last couple weeks he's had what looks like foam (but might just be shedding skin) around his mouth and nose. When I take him out to feed him, it rinses away. I had him open his mouth to check and see if there was extra mucos, but it looked the same as the four inch RES.

He's not wheezing, and his appetite is great. I don't think he's been basking any more than he usually does. Anybody have any thoughts as to what this might be? Both turtles just went through a period of heavy shedding, even though the water temperature is in the normal range. It's tapered off as of late.

Thanks,
Devin

it could be a fungal infection of the turts skin, try Herpcare shel and skin treatment and follow the directions, i would treat both turts to be safe that the fungus was gone
