Hypo? Albino? Normal? Only time will tell...

treeboas.com Aug 17, 2004 12:54 PM

...And that time is getting closer. This girl is now around 5' and could more than likely breed this year if I was in a hurry, but I'm not. I'm probably gonna hold her back until next year because I have a specific male in mind for her and he won't be ready this year.

Since these pics were taken (several months ago) she has developed a considerable amount of lavender/purple in places were it would normally be black. Not sure what this means but it certainly gives me something else to think about. Her pupils are still blood red. Still anyone's guess at this point I suppose.

Beautiful! If she's got lavender where black should be and her eyes are a dark ruby red, I'd say she could very well be a tyrosinase positive amel.

Yes, her pupils are very dark ruby red, virtually black to the naked eye. It can be seen best in close photos and under dim lighting conditions. The lavender/purple color has always been there in a few places, but has definitely spread as she's grown older. Similar to the way most hortulanus, especially patternless specimens, tend to pick up a few black scales as they mature. I've been leaning towards either T plus or hypomelanism, but either way I wouldn't be upset making red, yellow and purple amazons! lol Thanks for the compliments all! Take care.
